Accountability

As Sheriff I will make sure that the Sheriff’s Office is held accountable every day and not just every four years by making it an Accredited Agency through the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission.

I will also establish a Citizens Review/Advisory Board comprised of members of the Community to assist with any community issues, concerns and the conduct of any Sheriff’s Office personnel including myself.

In Addition I will implement a Sheriff’s Advisory Board to address any suggestions or concerns by Sheriff’s Office personnel in regards to any internal or external perceptions of the Sheriff’s Office.

By doing these three things we can facilitate an open dialog by building trust, and creating partnerships between the Sheriff’s Office and the Community therefore bringing an awareness of the Sheriff’s commitment to the Community.

As Sheriff I will ask to personally oversee the security of City Council meetings. This will allow me to stay on top of Community issues and concerns at the same time saving the city thousands of dollars in police overtime costs.
